BCCI looking to shift venue of World T20 semis from Delhi to Mohali

Dismayed with the DDCA's gross mismanagement of preparations, the BCCI is considering the shifting the semi-finals of the men's and women's World T20, scheduled for March 20, from Delhi to Mohali. The DDCA has reportedly bungled the ticket sales and ICC hoardings around the venue for the matches.
The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) stopped the sale of tickets for the semis after ICC were not allowed to put up a hoarding at the R.P Mehra Block, which has been labeled as illegal by the Archaeological Survey of India, reported the Hindu.
The DDCA have now appealed to the Supreme Court to give them the permission, and the hearing will be held on March 28. BCCI are reportedly unwilling to take a risk with the hearing scheduled so close to the match and are considering the possibility of shifting the venue.
The governing body had initially considered Dharamshala as the replacement for Delhi, but considering the possibility of Pakistan qualifying for the semis, they have decided to turn their attention towards Mohali.
“Dharamshala is a nice venue and, since it had lost a match, we were keen to allot the semifinals to it. However, security issues would have cropped up in the case of Pakistan making it to the semis.
“Again, in case Pakistan qualifies, it will be easier for its fans to reach Mohali. It is well-connected, provides good accommodation and can meet logistical requirements. The PCA is a good host, and has got the experience of holding two big semifinals (World Cup 1996 and 2011),” reported the Hindu quoting an unnamed BCCI official.
