Former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday wished his former teammate Sachin Tendulkar “all the best”, after he accepted the invitation from IOA to become India’s goodwill ambassador for the Olympics. Ganguly had earlier also welcomed Salman Khan’s appointment for the role.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) invited Sachin Tendulkar and shooter Abhinav Bindra as the ambassadors after the sporting fraternity was left divided over the appointment of actor Salman Khan. Speaking to reporters at an event in Kolkata, Ganguly welcomed the legendary cricketer’s appointment as ambassador and wished him all the best.

"You got to leave some decision to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). You keep on asking my opinion. I don't believe in giving opinion on everything. I wish them all the best.

"Sachin has done wonders for India and that is why they have him on board," Ganguly told reporters, reported IANS.

The former Indian captain had earlier welcomed Salman Khan’s appointment as the Olympic goodwill ambassador, saying that the Bollywood superstar will bring glamour and visibility to the quadrennial event.

"I am fine with Salman being appointed as the ambassador as he can bring visibility and glamour quotient to anything," Ganguly had said.
