VIDEO | Ravindra Jadeja beats MS Dhoni to DRS to send Shimron Hetmyer packing

If MS Dhoni has been the master of DRS, his close confidante Ravindra Jadeja decided to give him a reality check today. After MS Dhoni seemed uninterested in taking the call, the spinner persuaded him and skipper Virat Kohli to go for it, which eventually turned out to be an inspiring one.

After Windies upset the apple cart in the second and third ODI to secure a tie and a win respectively, India made a comeback with a bang in the fourth ODI. In the series decider at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, Indian bowlers put the visitors in a shell very early in the game. It was not a single-man effort rather one of a tag-team one as almost all bowlers had their name on the wicket-list so far.

Ravindra Jadeja, however, would have denied a wicket had Virat Kohli gone with MS Dhoni’s verdict than the bowler’s confidence. The incident in question took place on the penultimate ball of the 16th over when Jadeja’s tossed-up delivery caught Hetmyer in two minds as he was not sure whether to come forward or go back. After being in two minds, he made the mistake and was pinned to the crease and was rapped on the pads.

Thinking it might have pitched outside leg, the umpire gave the verdict in the batsman’s favour, which baffled Jadeja. Although MS Dhoni appealed for the dismissal, he wasn’t sure about it and from the looks of it, it seemed like he was not in favour of India going for the review.  However, Jadeja forced Dhoni and Kohli to go for it and it was only then the skipper agreed to take the review.

The replay clearly showed that the ball was pitched in line and was hitting the middle stump. It turned out to be a very good DRS and MS Dhoni put up a bright smile on his face after being proved wrong by Jadeja.
