Ramesh Power appointed India ‘A’ bowling coach

Former India off-spinner Ramesh Power has been appointed the bowling coach for the India ‘A’ men’s team. The new job comes only a year after he was let go by the BCCI as the head coach of the Indian women's team following a clash with the senior player and former captain Mithali Raj.
The controversy sparked into life when the veteran woman cricketer was not allowed to play in the semifinal of the Women’s World Cup in 2018. Many Indian fans cited this incident as the reason for the team's poor showing at the tournament.
However, the BCCI has been involving the retired spinner in its coaching programmes of late. He was invited for an elite coaches orientation programme, organised by the NCA in Bangalore, and was the coach at the India under-19 boys' camp at Dharamshala. Eventually, Powar, who played in two Tests and 31 ODIs for India, bagged the job ahead of the home series against South Africa A.
After a successful tour of the West Indies, where they won the one-dayer series 4-1 and the unofficial three-match Test series 2-0, India ‘A’ men’s team will face South Africa ‘A’ next. The home series, which includes five one-dayers and two four-day unofficial Tests, will be played in September.
