According to reports, as many as five Indian citizens were found to be betting illegally through mobile phones at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka during the Bangladesh Premier League matches. In the first three days of BPL, 20 people have been caught with six of them being Indians.

After the inter-ministerial meeting held last year in January, the local administration in Dhaka, Chittagong, and Sylhet were empowered to run mobile courts at will during matches. It was started to tackle illegal betting through mobile in Last BPL edition and it continued this time as well.

Consequently, a mobile court on Tuesday found five Indians betting through their mobile during a match as reported by Cricbuzz. They were fined Tk 4,000 each before being expelled from the ground by executive magistrate Imrul Hasan.

"They were involved in betting with mobile phones. We imposed a fine of Tk 4,000 for each and expelled them from the ground. They will not be allowed to watch any more BPL game this season," he said, reported Cricbuzz.

It was also reported that three of them - Deepak, Sanjeeb Kumar and Sunil Kumar - hailed from Haryana.

Magistrate Imrul also revealed that they handed a similar punishment to another Indian on Sunday. So far, 20 people have been found betting illegally through mobile that includes six Indians and they have been punished.
