Yograj Singh compares MS Dhoni to 'filth' in a bizarre rant over Ambati Rayudu’s retirement

Yograj Singh blamed MS Dhoni, and BCCI selectors in general, for Ambati Rayudu’s retirement from all forms of cricket. Yograj said he was saddened by Rayudu’s hasty decision, and urged the Hyderabadi cricketer to return from retirement to prove his ability to the Indian selectors.

When Indian selectors picked Vijay Shankar ahead of Rayudu for the 15-member World Cup squad, it came as a surprise to many. Instead, the right-hander was listed as one of the five standby players for the squad in case of an injury to one of the 15. However, after being snubbed twice, with Rishabh Pant replacing Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal replacing Shankar, Rayudu was left hurt. Before Agarwal arrived in England to join the team, Rayudu announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

However, Yograj Singh, the father of the legendary Yuvraj Singh, said he was extremely hurt by the hasty decision. The former cricketer said that Rayudu gave up too soon.

“Rayudu should’ve continued playing, more and more. He should’ve played Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy, Duleep Trophy, scoring 100s, 200s, 300s with not outs. He still has a lot of cricket left in him,” Yograj told NNIS Sports.

The rant took a bizarre turn when Yograj began to blame MS Dhoni for Rayudu being snubbed. He praised former captain Sourav Ganguly for bringing in several youngsters during his reign and compared Dhoni to "filth" for repeatedly ignoring the performances put up by Rayudu. He advised Rayudu to come out of retirement and stand up to his ‘adversaries.’

“Rayudu, my son you took the decision in haste. Come out of retirement and show them what you are capable of. People like MS Dhoni will not remain forever, filth like these will not remain forever,” he said.
