Despite India’s practice session being called off due to torrential showers, the weather gods are unlikely to ruin Virat Kohli & Co’s World Cup campaign opener against South Africa in Southampton on Wednesday. South Africa have lost both their matches and will hope to bounce back against India.
Team India's practice session, ahead of the start of their World Cup 2019 campaign opener against South Africa, was called off due to heavy rains in Southampton earlier this week. However, the forecast for Wednesday looked promising as the weather is expected to be "generally dry, with some sunny spells, but it might cloud over later."
"There’s a possibility of a shower in the afternoon, but nothing too major," a British Met official said.
The temperatures will be on the lower side and chilly morning that will assist the fast bowlers. The temperatures will hover around 15-17 degrees Celsius with wind blowing making it more cooler for the players.
Virat Kohli-led India will be aiming to start their campaign on a high as they start as the favourites against a depleted South Africa who have already lost two from two in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. India are relatively fresh, considering they had almost two weeks of rest since the conclusion of this year’s IPL.
