VIDEO | Martin Guptill walks off with embarrassing smile after slipping into his stumps

After being given a mediocre target to chase down in 49 overs, the Kiwi batsmen were safely cruising towards the target and didn’t look like they were in any sort of hurry. However, as they say, things happen when you don't expect anything and Andile Phehlukwayo should be happy that he had Martin Guptill’s wicket to his name without having to do anything. 

On the last ball of the 15th over, which Phehlukwayo bowled at the shorter length, rose awkwardly on Guptill. While trying a pull shot, the ball came off the top part of the bat and went in the gap between mid-on and mid-wicket. Looking at the kind of shot, Faf du Plessis, who was standing at slip at that time, was frustrated, without any idea of how the drama was going to be unfolded.

Guptill slipped a bit while trying to take off for the single and took down the stumps with his back leg. It was embarrassing to say the least as Lungi Ngidi was running behind the ball to save it from going to the boundary. Guptill started walking back to the pavilion with a difficult smile on his face. But deep down, he knew that it was the last mode of dismissal he would’ve wanted on his resume.
