The Mumbai Cricket Association will reportedly be accepting applications for the post of coaches across different levels including that of the senior men’s team ahead of the 2019-20 season. There are rumors that the coach will be offered an added bonus of Rs 12 lakhs on winning the Ranji Trophy.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) seem determined to turn things around after a rather forgettable 2018 domestic season, especially in the Ranji Trophy. The governing body has reportedly started accepting applications for the post of coaches at various age levels.

The highlight of the selection process will be the post of the senior men’s team coach, who will allegedly get Rs 12 lakh bonus for winning the Ranji Trophy. As per the MCA website, the wage for the coach of the senior men’s team will be Rs 24 lakh for the contract period (one year), with an addition Rs 12 lakh bonus for winning the Ranji Trophy or Rs 6 lakh for finishing as runners-up in the tournament.

A senior MCA member told PTI that this is the first time the association has publicly put out the figures of remuneration and bonuses in order to maintain transparency with the public. Similarly, local body has issued Rs 7.5 lakh bonus for the U-23 team’s coach for men for winning the Col C K Nayadu Trophy or Rs 3.5 lakh bonus for ending as runners-up in the tournament apart from Rs 15 lakh remuneration as per the official website.

In addition to inviting applications for coaches of its Under-19 and Under-16 teams, the MCA has also invited applications for coaches for its Under-14 team, senior women’s team and Under-19 girls squad.

The Mumbai association has stated that those interested in these posts can apply before May 13. It is understood that the Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC), chaired by former India skipper Dilip Vengsarkar, Raju Kulkarni and former Mumbai spinner Kiran Mokashi, will shortlist candidates for interviews.
