Anju Jain to stay back for Pakistan tour, BCB appoints interim coach

Head coach of the Bangladesh women’s cricket team Anju Jain and two other personnel from her support staff have refused to travel to Pakistan for a tour extending for less than a fortnight, forcing the Bangladesh Cricket Board to seek replacements. It has hence appointed one of the country’s fastest bowlers ever and former head coach Dipu Roy Chowdhury to lead the time from the sidelines for the three T20Is and two ODIs. Former opener for the Tigers Javed Omar has been named manager for the tour extending from the 26th of October to the fifth of November.

"This is not in our hands [Indian coaches travelling to Pakistan]. It is more or less a diplomatic issue," Omar was quoted saying by Cricbuzz.

Renowned cricket coach and seasoned campaigner Imdadul Haq will be the second in charge for assisting Chowdhury, while Anowar Hossain will serve as the team trainer. With not much international cricket played in Pakistan over the past decade considering terror threats, BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury has denied any such claims stating they feel perfectly safe travelling to the fellow Asian country.

"We are in touch with PCB and we want to know what kind of security measures they have taken for the Sri Lankan team during the ongoing tour. The ICC is also monitoring everything," he pointed out.
