Dinesh Karthik has insisted that the team will be missing their fans back home and the energy of Eden Gardens but the fans will always be there in the hearts of players. Karthik added that the team will be playing an entertaining brand of cricket to put a smile on the face of every KKR fan.

COVID-19 has forced the cricket fraternity to adopt various measures in order to continue playing matches after few months of inactivity. BCCI too had to shift the IPL from India to UAE for the league to happen this year. However, as the league is happening under strict restrictions, teams will be playing without any spectators, which they will have to get used to until the pandemic subsides.

On Wednesday, KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik insisted that the side will miss the energetic atmosphere created by the fans in Eden Gardens, however, in spite of not being present, the fans will always hold a special place in the hearts of KKR players. Karthik added that he wants to put a smile on every fan’s face by playing the right brand of cricket.

"We will be missing our fans this year and the energy of Eden Gardens. We wanted to communicate directly with KKR fans, and wanted to convey what they mean to us. We do understand that they can't be here in person with us, but they will be in our heart," Karthik said in a function in Dubai as quoted by TOI.

"This year, it's not so much for us. We're playing for you all. We want to put a smile on their faces through our cricket. If we play the right brand of cricket, I'm sure we will make sure that you know we put a smile on every KKR fan out there."

Fans are what elevate a team from good to great. They act as 12th man for their team and have an impact that is undeniable in crucial moments of the game. Given the importance of fans for a club, playing without them would definitely be something that all the teams will have to get used to. KKR CEO and MD Venky Mysore conveyed the same emotions about the importance of fans for their club.

"For KKR, our biggest strength is our fans. The players have always been inspired by the unwavering dedication of our fans who support the team in highs and lows," Venky Mysore said.
