Ottis Gibson set to step down as Bangladesh pace bowling coach

In a recent development, Otis Gibson has decided not to renew his contract as bowling coach for the Bangladesh national team. Gibson will finish his two year stint with Bangladesh on January 20 and will join Multan Sultans in Pakistan Super League as an assistant and fast bowling coach.

Former West Indies pacer Ottis Gibson had joined Bangladesh as pace bowling coach in 2020 replacing Charl Langeveldt. The pacer will complete his stint of two years with the team on January 20 and has decided not to renew his contract.  The series against New Zealand was his last assignment with the team and he is now set to quit from the role. Bangladesh Cricket Board cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus has confirmed to Cricbuzz about Gibson’s decision. 

Gibson has played two Tests picking three wickets and 15 ODIs taking 34 wickets from 1995 to 1999. He scalped 659 wickets and scored 5604 runs in 177 first-class matches. He worked with England twice as bowling coach after his retirement from the game. Also, he worked as South Africa head coach from 2017 to 2019. 

The former West Indies pacer is now set to join Multan Sultans as their assistant and fast bowling coach in the Pakistan Super League starting from January 27.
