Stubbs joined Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 5 to replace the injured Tymal Mills for the remainder of IPL 2022. He is a promising 21-year-old middle-order batter, who had scored 506 runs in 17 senior T20 innings.

India are currently the top-ranked side in T20Is. South Africa, on the other hand, are placed at fourth. The five-match series will be played between June 9 and 19.
