Welsh Fire triumphed over Manchester Originals by eight wickets at Old Trafford. The Phil Salt-led side suffered a batting collapse with David Willey’s three-fer and Josh Little’s two-fer and restricted them to 86/8 whereas their batting was clinical as they chased the target in just 57 deliveries.

‌In the third match of The Hundred, Manchester Originals faced off against the Welsh Fire at Old Trafford. Welsh captain Tom Abell won the toss and chose to bowl first, a decision that immediately proved fruitful. David Willey dismantled the Manchester top order taking out Salt and Max Holden during the powerplay. The situation worsened for the Originals when Willey removed Paul Walter on the 15th delivery, followed by Josh Little dismissing Sikandar Raza on the 27th. By the end of the seventh set, with Wayne Madsen and Jamie Overton at the crease, the Originals were struggling at 23/4. The wickets kept falling, leaving the team at a precarious 35/6 by the halfway point. The Originals' batting lineup continued to falter with Usama Mir's dismissal on the 54th delivery. Nevertheless, a crucial 36-run partnership between Jamie Overton and Scott Currie in the final stages helped the Manchester Originals reach a total of 86/8 after their 100 deliveries.

In their response, the Welsh Fire got off to a flying start with openers Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Jonny Bairstow quickly amassing 37 runs without loss after 20 deliveries. The Manchester Originals finally broke through when Scott Currie dismissed Kohler-Cadmore on the 21st delivery. With just 39 runs needed from 75 deliveries, the Fire's appeared to be in a commanding position. Paul Walter then removed Bairstow on the 28th delivery bringing captain Tom Abell to the crease. The Welsh skipper alongside Joe Clarkesteadily guided the Welsh side closer to victory needing just 21 more runs from 55 deliveries. The pair comfortably steered their team to an eight-wicket win, reaching the target with 43 balls to spare.
