Celebrations and emotions are always part of the cricket field, and sometimes one moment can lead to a chain of reactions. Such was the case in the first Test between India and Australia at Perth, where the Indian team experienced a series of reactions after Virat Kohli dropped an easy catch.

‌India faced a challenging time with the bat as quick wickets fell and they struggled to build substantial partnerships. The top order, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal, and Virat Kohli, fell to the pace and bounce of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, leaving India reeling at 47/4 in 22 overs. However, Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy fought back with resilience, but ultimately, India was bundled out for 150 runs. In response, Australia had a steady start with openers Nathan McSweeney and Usman Khawaja taking the score to 13/0 in two overs. However, the debutant McSweeney could not last long, as he was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah in the third over. The drama continued as Marnus Labuschagne received a lifeline due to a sitter being dropped by Virat Kohli at second slip.

On the last ball of the third over, Bumrah bowled a full-length delivery outside the off stump. The ball swung away and bounced slightly as Marnus Labuschagne poked at it. The ball took the outside edge and flew towards Virat Kohli, stationed at second slip. Kohli, diving late to his right, got a hand to it but couldn't hold on, leading to a missed chance. Immediately, KL Rahul and Bumrah started celebrating, with Padikkal also getting caught up in the moment. However, they quickly realised Kohli had missed the catch. The incident sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with Twitterverse discussing India's premature celebrations and Kohli’s dropped opportunity.
