IND vs BAN | Twitter reacts to dejected Shakib as catching blunder leaves Akash Deep in safe waters

It is a well-known fact that Morning starts the day. But former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan didn’t quite enjoy the morning session omn the second day of the first Test in Chennai as it started off with a dropped catch that he would’ve priced a bet on taking any other given day.

Taskin Ahmed’s pin-point precision ruined India’s start to the second day as the tag team of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja failed to extend their gargantuan partnership, missing the 200-run by a whisker. Unbothered by the early setback, Akash Deep aimed to partner with the local lad and executed some flamboyant strokes to keep the scoreboard moving. In the process, he attempted an aerial stroke that could’ve seen him stroll back to the hut. However, it wasn’t the case, courtesy of Shakib.

Having already bucketed the wicket of Jadeja, Taskin would’ve earned another scalp in the morning on the fifth ball of the 85th over. The pacer dished the ball short into the batter from over the wicket and Akash tried to pull it over square leg. However, the Bengal cricketer failed to get into a good position and incurred a top-edge that saw the ball marooning behind Shakib who was positioned at square leg. The ball was in the air for a good time to get hold of it but the Bangladeshi veteran failed to cover good ground in the stipulated time and ended up spilling a catch by running backwards. Shakib is renowned for his three-dimensional value and seeing and putting down a dolly, left him dejected and the Twitterverse flooded.
