Match Report

The toss-winning PD6 skipper, Vansh Bedi, asked the New Delhi Tigers to bat first. After a blistering strike by NDT openers as they scored 35 runs in 4.3 overs, Rajneesh Dadar gave the first breakthrough to the Tigers, dismissing Dhruv Kaushik in the fifth over. Before his dismissal, Kaushik contributed with a brief knock of 28 runs off 19 balls, which included some boundaries in the initial overs of the powerplay. Gupta (12) was also followed by his opening mate just in the next over of the innings. After a double blow, the Tigers’ skipper Himmat Singh and Aryan Dalal responded with a much-needed 48-run partnership for the third wicket. In this partnership, Himmat played a brilliant knock of 46 runs off 33 balls, hitting five fours and a six to compensate for the early loss his team faced. Aryan also accompanied his skipper with a 21-run knock before he lost himself to an amazing direct hit from deep midwicket by PD6’s Udhav Mohan in the 11th over. After losing Aryan, Himmat stitched another decisive partnership of 33 runs for the fourth wicket. Rajneesh Dadar stopped Himmat’s valiant efforts. Later, around the end of the innings, wicketkeeper-batter Keshav Dalal scored a crucial 36 runs off 22 balls, with three fours and two sixes. These knocks helped the Tigers reach the defendable total of 174/7. Lalit Yadav picked two wickets for PD6, alongside a wicket each picked by Rajneesh Dadar and Pardeep Parashar.

NDT pacer Prince Yadav managed to beat PD6 opener Aarush Malhotra (8) in the third over with an amazing inswinger to give them an early blow in the run chase. But Samarth Seth and Vansh Bedi managed to rescue PD6 from an early loss as they added 43 runs for the second wicket. Seth led the charge in this partnership, scoring 38 runs off 27 balls, with five fours and a six before Pankaj Jaswal dismissed him in the seventh over. Subsequently, Bedi added another 23 runs for the third wicket with Pranav Pant before the former misjudged a shot and sliced it to backward point in the hands of Kaushik in Deepak Punia’s over. Bedi scored 24 (21). The late burst of 31 runs off just 17 balls, with two fours and as many sixes, raised the hopes for Purani Delhi 6, but it couldn’t be enough for them to chase the target. Eventually, they were restricted to a total of 167/8 in the entire 20 overs. Jaswal and Punia’s two-wicket contributions played a pivotal role in NDT’s narrow seven-run win.

Player of the Match

New Delhi Tigers’ Himmat Singh was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for his 46-run knock off 33 balls and his brilliant captaincy under pressure while defending the target.
