The game of cricket has popularized a lot of sportsmen in the world. However, with fame come some consequences that impact the personal lives of the players. RCB skipper Rajat Patidar experienced one such ramification as a young man from Gariaband was allotted his unused number.

‌The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League witnessed history when the Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally won their first title after an 18-year wait. Though it was Virat Kohli and Josh Hazlewood who were the top performers of the franchise, the man who led the team was Rajat Patidar. This made the 32-year-old Madhya Pradesh batter a popular figure for all the RCB fans, as he managed to achieve what no other RCB skipper had done. Patidar had a fairly decent season with the bat as well, scoring 312 runs at an average of 24 and a strike rate of 143.77. Though these achievements have made him a popular figure in cricket, this newfound fame also resulted in him getting caught in a peculiar fix.
The problems started when the middle-order batter’s number was allotted to a young 21-year-old man from the Gariaband district. Manish had gotten the SIM card from a mobile shop in late June and set up a WhatsApp account, which displayed the profile photo of Patidar. While Manish and his friends initially played the incident off as a minor glitch, calls from the RCB skipper's teammates including legends Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers made them believe otherwise. This was enough for the police to get involved in the case, their efforts led by the district's Superintendent of Police Nikhil Rakhecha who explained the hilarious turn of events that took place due to one unused number.
“It was a WhatsApp number and had probably not been in use for the last six months. As per company rules, a number that remains unused for over six months is allotted to other customers, which might have led to the allotment to the Devbhog youth. We have now returned the number to cricketer Rajat Patidar,” the SP said.

What a luck kid!

For real!

True!

Hahaha!

Yeah man!

LOL!

Moment!

So funny but lucky!

That's what!

Hehehehe!
