Sanju Samson never lets his fans down, and he proved that yet again with a memorable century against Aries Kollam Sailors in the KCL. Playing for Kochi Blue Tigers at his home in Trivandrum, the Rajasthan Royals skipper’s exploits powered his side home by four wickets in a thrilling tie.

‌Sanju Samson came up with a stupendous show for Kochi Blue Tigers in a Kerala Cricket League match to thrill the home fans who walked into the Greenfield International Stadium in Trivandrum on a Sunday evening. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter smashed a 51-ball 121 to power his side to a four-wicket win over Aries Kollam Sailors in a high-scoring tie.

After being put in, the Sailors raced to 236/5 in their stipulated 20 overs on the back of quickfire half-centuries from Vishnu Vinod and captain Sachin Baby. The wicketkeeper-batter smashed 10 sixes and three fours during his 41-ball 94, while the left-handed Baby hit six sixes and fours to hit 91 off 44 balls.

But Samson put on a show for the home faithful that pushed both the knocks to the background and helped the Tigers continue their unbeaten run in the season with their third win in three matches. Opening the batting, the Rajasthan Royals skipper sent the Sailors’ bowlers on a leather hunt, tonking seven sixes and 14 fours, with Muhammad Ashiq’s last-ball six helping the Kochi-based franchise to pull off a thrilling win.

Samson, who was rightly declared the Player of the Match, acknowledged the home fans during the post-match presentation ceremony. He was pumped up as he switched languages to address the gathering in Malayalam.

Responding to the host of the show, he admitted that it was very difficult to accept defeat and let the home crowd down. After being mesmerised by the pyrotechnics that he put on, it was the cherry on the cake for the fans to listen to the star in their own language.

Twitter had goosebumps as the home fans got a glimpse of their star, who was in full flow, and delighted them throughout, and even after the match.
