Friendship often takes a backseat in the battle of bat and ball, where every team plays for its glory. Friends on the field, Ali Khan left a bitter memory for Kieron Pollard after cleaning him up with a smearing yorker in the clash of the two heavy-weights - Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and MI Emirates.
The ploy to field first from Sunil Narine backfired when MI openers got off to a decent start inside the field restrictions. After Kusal Perera fell at the cusp of the powerplay, Tom Banton played second fiddle to Kusal Perera before getting outsmarted with the score 80/2 in ten overs. Right after, Muhammad Waseem followed suit, and so did Pollard, failing to impact the game, courtesy of Khan’s outstanding delivery.
On the third ball of the 14th over, Khan came over the wicket and dished a yorker at the leg stump. Pollard didn’t quite expect the slinging delivery to quick at him and failed to jab the bat down on time. The white cherry skittled underneath his bat and dismantled the leg stump, baffling Pollard. Subsequently, Khan, who shared the dressing room with Pollard numerous times, came up with an ice-cold celebration, leaving Pollard surprised.
Corker!
