IPL Final, RCB vs PBKS | Twitter in splits as Shastri hilariously corrects Rajat at noisy toss ceremony

The nerves of a final, especially when your franchise has never won a title in 18 long years, can get to the best of men -- add a crowd screaming at full volume and it can be no less than a nightmare. Till the toss though, the feeling was limited to embarrassment for RCB skipper Rajat Patidar.

The heavens quelled in time at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday to allow the toss for the IPL 2025 final to take place at its scheduled time of 7 PM IST. Captains of Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings, Rajat Patidar and Shreyas Iyer respectively, both strod out with confidecne, their stoic exteriors hiding the jangling nerves that invariably plague any man tasked with the responsibility of shouldering millions of hopes that have remained unfulfilled for nearly two decades. A roaring crowd at the venue with nearly a lakh and a half in seating capacity made sure they did not forget the stakes at hand, and in the process inadvertently embarassed Rajat during the toss ceremony.

After Iyer won the toss and opted to bat, Rajat revealed to presenter Ravi Shastri that he had planned to no different but remained upbeat about his team's chances. However, as the conversation was coming to a close, Shastri asked the veteran what he thought of the surfac, to which Patidar inexplicably replied RCB was fielding the same XI. Unfetterred, Ravi repeated himself completely ignoring the chasm in communication, and this time got the response he wanted as the RCB skip judged the deck to be flat and good for scoring.

Twitterati pointed out that Rajat had clarified at the start of the interaction itself the crowd's cacophony was hampering his ability to understand what was being said, but the moment of confusion for Shastri made for hilarious viewing all the same.

Ahem!

Looks very nervous!

NIce game it is gonna be!

He's so cool!

Did he say that?

It's obvs.

For everyone it is!
