LSG vs SRH | Twitter in awe of Eshan Malinga’s blinder as Rishabh Pant’s woeful run continues

Taking blinders are always special in cricket but when it comes off your own bowling then there is nothing more special than that. Eshan Malinga pulled off a spectacular return catch during the Lucknow Super Giants vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match to add to Rishabh Pant’s woes in IPL 2025.

With a must-win game, Lucknow Super Giants started the match in excellent fashion, after being put into bat, with openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram adding 115 runs within 11 overs. But against the run of play, Marsh was dismissed by debutant Harsh Dubey and skipper Rishabh Pant walked in at three ahead of Nicholas Pooran.

However, even that promotion could not help turn his fortunes around. After stepping down and missing the ball going for a wild heave off Eshan Malinga’s first ball, Pant found a boundary off the fifth, to his relief. But it was short-lived as he was outfoxed by the Srilankan pacer.

He bowled a pace-off delivery off the last ball of the 12th over and Pant was totally caught off-guard. The left-hander looking for a big hit could only chip it in the air. Malinga, just as he was completing his action, took a forward plunge to his left to complete a stunning catch. Twitter was stunned by the bowler’s effort as Pant’s indifferent IPL continued in the same vein.

What a catch!
