MI vs DC | Twitter in splits as Will Jacks scores own goal while pressurising new-batter Vipraj Nigam

Bowlers often end up in a fix while trying to pressurise batters when they are new to the crease. Something similar happened when Will Jacks ended up conceding a no ball, putting too many fielders around the bat, without the minimum fielders required on the off side during the MI vs DC game.

‌Mumbai Indians, after their struggle during the middle overs, put a challenging 180/5 on board against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with Suryakumar Yadav scoring a splendid 73 off 43 balls and Naman Dhir’s coming up with an entertaining cameo.

Delhi found the pressures of the must-win game as well as the scorecard difficult to manage as they slumped to 27/3 in the fifth over. Skipper Faf du Plessis, KL Rahul and Abishek Porel were all back in the dugout with Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar and Will Jacks picking a wicket apiece.

Jacks was pumped up after sending Porel back and decided to receive new-batter with a leg slip, forward short leg and a short mid wicket fielder. Just as he defended it out to negotiate the danger, Jacks and MI found to their horror that they had an additional fielder on the leg side than the stipulated five.

The umpire signalled a no ball as Hardik Pandya had a chat to understand their huge miss. Vipraj Nigam was a relieved man as he got to face a free hit in only his second ball of the innings. The off-spinner sent the ball short and wide and Vipraj happily accepted the gift and cleared the cover boundary with all fielders inside the 30-yard circle.

Twitter could not stop laughing as Jacks ended up scoring an own goal and in trying to pressurise the batter got himself in an awkward spot.

Lol!

hahah!

Dropped!

Yeah!
