Manchester City and Liverpool moved one step closer to progressing into the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League as they registered convincing wins over Napoli and Maribor respectively. Spurs showed real grit and determination to hold defending champions Real Madrid to a draw at the Bernabeu.

Manchester City 2-1 Napoli

The Sky Blues continued their flawless winning streak on Tuesday as they overcame a tricky Napoli side 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium to retain the top spot in the Group F with maximum points from the first three games.

Despite some nervy moments at the end of the first half and second half, City’s early dominance was enough to see off the Italian club. City started the game with a bang with Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus putting their names on the scoresheet with easy tap-ins with Napoli defence watching haplessly.

However, they gradually gained momentum after conceding twice in the first twelve minutes as Raul Albiol was brought down by Kyle Walker inside the box in the 38 minute. But, striker Dries Mertens saw it saved by Eduardo to their misfortune. Though the momentum did get Napoli back in the game in the second half when Amadou Diawara converted from the spot in the 73 minute, it was too late and the game finished 2-1.
