Nelson Semedo urged Wolves to aim higher after a 1-0 win at Old Trafford secured their Premier League safety. Wolves, with five straight wins, now face relegated Leicester. Matheus Cunha leads their scoring with 14 goals. Leicester, winless in 26 games without a clean sheet, face another test at Molineux.
After the crucial 1-0 win at Old Trafford that confirmed Premier League survival, Wolves defender Nelson Semedo urged the team to finish the season strongly. Pablo Sarabia’s stunning free-kick sealed the victory, giving Wolves their first league double over Manchester United since the 1979-80 season. Under Vitor Pereira, Wolves have been impressive—only four teams have collected more points than their 29 since his arrival.
They now aim for a sixth straight win as they host relegated Leicester City. Semedo highlighted the importance of ambition, insisting the job is not done with five games remaining. Wolves’ resurgence has been led by Matheus Cunha, who has netted 14 league goals this season—only Raul Jimenez has scored more in a single Wolves campaign. Leicester’s relegation was confirmed after a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool.
Despite the disappointment, manager Ruud van Nistelrooy sees recent performances as building blocks for next season. Jamie Vardy, who called the season an “embarrassment,” will look to restore pride, although Leicester have struggled all year—scoring in just 23 of their 38 matches and conceding 73 goals. Wolves are favourites for the clash, with a win probability of 59.1 percent, while Leicester’s stands at just 19.3 percent.
