Accused of molestation by a girl, SAI kabaddi coach commits suicide

Rudrappa V Hosamani committed suicide after he was accused of molestation by a teenager on the basis of an alleged incident that took place on October 9. He was a senior Kabaddi coach under Sports Authority of India at Bengaluru and was suspended after a complaint was filed against the coach

The incident happened on October 13 when Hosamani went to his hotel room and did not come out of the room for a long duration. Suspicious hotel crew alerted the police and when the police arrived they broke the door of Hosamani’s room open and there the body of the coach was found hanging.  

“Rudrappa V Hosamani, a senior coach at SAI in Bengaluru, committed suicide by hanging himself in the hotel room in Harihara on Monday.He was accused of molestation,” Davanagere Superintendent of Police R Chetan told PTI.

Earlier a teenage girl had accused the coach of molestation and her parents had promptly complained to the SAI authorities. The alleged incident of molestation was informed to be taken place on October 9 at the girls’ dressing room of the centre.

After the girl had informed of the incident to her parents, her parents relayed the information to SAI authorities. An internal enquiry was conducted against the coach and he was placed under suspension. Subsequently, there was also a case filed against Hosamani under the  Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
