Pacers and aggression -- a love story as old as time, even for the craft's most innocuous practitioners. For all the innocence Prasidh Krishna seems to ooze more often than not, the quick showcased his fiery side on Tuesday with an unprovoked throw at Corbin Bosch who was left in disbelief.
Mumbai Indians lost their way in the second half of their innings following a foundation-setting 71-run stand between Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav after Shubman Gill won the toss at the Wankhede and asked the hosts to bat first. The Paltan crumbled from 97/2 to 123/7 in the span of six overs, leaving Corbin Bosch and Deepak Chahar responsible to take the team to a competitive score. However, with the in-form Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Krishna having overs remaining in their bank, the task was uphill and the former ensured the batters remain aware of the threat at all moments; even when they needn't.
In the 15th over -- Prasidh's second -- the tall right-armer began with a venomous bumper that Bosch had to take evading action against. The next ball was banged in on a length and aimed straight at Bosch, who chose to simply defend the delivery and wait to take his chances. However, the respect shown by the Proteas was not enough for Krishna, who collected the returning ball and instantly slung it back towards the wicket even though Bosch was well in his crease and stood covering practically the entire set of stumps.
Bosch was completely befuddled by what occurred, even though Krishna's instant raised hand in apology was more than enough to allay him. Gill, meanwhile, seemed as perplexed as anyone else and in the emotional set-up even seemed to venture a feeble appeal albeit with little hope of any consequences. Twitterati was thoroughly entertained by this unexpected dose of amusement.
