Rajat Patidar to lead as Rest of India announce squad for Irani Cup against Vidarbha

The Rest of India and Ranji holders, Vidarbha, are set to take on each other in the upcoming Irani Cup 2025-26, starting on October 1. Meanwhile, both teams have announced their power-packed squads for this game, to be played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.

In a recent line of developments in the Indian domestic cricket, the Rest of India have announced their squad for the upcoming Irani Cup 2025-26. They will take on the Ranji Champions, Vidarbha, in the one-off First-Class game, commencing on October 1st at the Vidarbha Cricket Association in Nagpur.
Star Madhya Pradesh batter and skipper, Rajat Patidar, will lead the Rest of India in the Irani Cup. The team will also feature the star in-form batter Abhimanyu Easwaran, who has been in the headlines for the last couple of months owing to his sensational form in domestic cricket. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named Patidar’s deputy in this squad. Young India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has also been included in the ROI squad for the highly anticipated Indian domestic competition next month. Manav Suthar, Akash Deep, Anshul Kamboj, Gurnoor Brar, and Khaleel Ahmed will be a few key names in ROI’s bowling attack for this game against Vidarbha. Young Delhi batter Yash Dhull has also earned a reward for his domestic performances, getting called up in the ROI squad.
On the other hand, the reigning champions of the Ranji Trophy, Vidarbha, have also announced their 16-member squad for the Irani Cup. The team will be playing under the captaincy of wicketkeeper-batter Akshay Wadkar. He has been one of the consistent performers for his side in first-class cricket, scoring 3,906 runs in 62 games, having an amazing batting average of 48.82. Wadkar has secured 11 centuries and 19 half-centuries to his credit in his first-class appearances for Vidarbha. Yash Rathod has been appointed as the vice-captain for the Irani Cup game against the Rest of India.
