IND vs NZ | Twitter celebrates with Rohit Sharma as Ashwin’s carrom ball leaves Glenn Phillips clueless

Only a few bowlers worldwide have the skill to master the carrom ball and take crucial wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin showcased this in the final session of the second day at Mumbai, delivering a brilliant carrom ball that left Glenn Phillips baffled as it clattered into his stumps.

‌India scored 263 runs in their first innings, bolstered by Shubman Gill's impressive 90, while Ajaz Patel claimed five wickets, reminiscent of his past successes at Wankhede. Akash Deep provided an early highlight by dismissing Tom Latham, but Devon Conway and Will Young brought New Zealand to 26/1 by tea. After the break, Washington Sundar and Ravichandran Ashwin led the bowling attack, with Washington taking Conway's wicket and Ashwin dismissing Rachin Ravindra for just four runs. New Zealand reached 89/3, with Ashwin also taking a spectacular catch to dismiss Daryl Mitchell before bowling Glenn Phillips.

On the fifth ball of the 33rd over, Ashwin bowled a fuller-length carrom ball aimed at the leg stump, delivering such precise spin that it turned sharply after pitching. Glenn Phillips misread the delivery, assuming it was an off-break and attempted to push it toward mid-wicket. However, the ball beat his outside edge and knocked over the stumps, prompting Ashwin to celebrate with a triumphant fist pump and a joyful leap. In a humorous moment, Rohit Sharma playfully jogged from first slip to congratulate Ashwin on the exceptional delivery, while fans on Twitter expressed their excitement over Ashwin’s impressive delivery.
