There is nothing more beautiful in a game of cricket than to watch a spinner in full flow and bamboozling the batter with his turn and guile. Mitchell Santner was a sight to behold during the MI vs DC at the Wankhede Stadium as he outfoxed the batters to produce a match-winning spell.

‌Batting first, Mumbai Indians made a formidable 180/5 in their allotted 20 overs against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium, after going through a shaky patch in the middle. Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 73 off just 43 balls while Naman Dhir scored an entertaining 8-ball 24 as the duo added 57 runs for the sixth wicket that also included 48 runs in the last two overs of the innings.

DC, needing a win to stay afloat in the race for the IPL 2025 playoffs, had a rough start losing their top three batter for just 27 runs within the fifth over. KL Rahul, DC skipper Faf du Plessis and Abishek Porel were all back in the pavilion and DC were looking at a steep chase.

With the middle order showing some fight, Mitchell Santner stepped in to show his magic and torment the batters. After watching DC spinners having a roll during the first innings, the left-arm spinner had his plans already set in mind. After dismissing set-batter Vipraj Nigam with a caught and bowled effort, Santner came to bowl his final over with Ashutosh Sharma and Sameer Rizvi involved in a 38-run partnership and DC needing 78 from the last six overs.

Off the second ball, he bowled a slower beauty that was flighted perfectly pitching on leg as Rizvi was already set for a sweep. He was beaten in the flight and turn as the ball hit the top of middle. Two balls later, he outfoxed Ashutosh in the flight again, bowling a slow delivery outside off as he stepped out of the crease trying to reach for the ball. Wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton did the rest taking the bails in a giffy as the New Zealand spinner ended with an exceptional spell of 3/11 in four overs.

Twitter was in awe of the left-arm spinner’s guile and control as Santner had the ball on a string during his spell.
