PBKS vs RCB | Twitter and Mullanpur in disbelief as Bengaluru pacers run riot to leave Punjab dizzy

The form book goes often out of the window when games with high stakes arrive, and with a place in the IPL final up for grabs the Qualifier 1 in Mullanpur on Thursday was as big as it gets. Unfortunately for Punjab, the nerves that came with it had them zooming towards demise in tragic fashion.

‌Royal Challengers Bengaluru got their post-season campaign off to a dream start against Punjab Kings. The juggernaut began at the toss when Rajat Patidar, returning from an injury layoff to skipper for the occasion, won the toss and chose to bowl first much to the disappointment of rival captain Shreyas Iyer. However, few could have imagined what the decision would culminate into, including those seated at the Maharaja Yudhvir Singh International Stadium.

The first blow arrived when Priyans Arya chipped a Yash Dayal delivery straight to short cover in the second over, before Bhuvneshwar Kumar came up with a brilliant riposte in the next over to dispatch Prabhsimran Singh after the opener had struck him for two boundaries. Just four balls later, a Josh Hazlewood short delivery rose sharply to take Shreyas Iyer's top edge and send the PBKS skipper walking back to the hut. Another short ball in the Aussie's next over brought compatriot Josh Inglis' demise and the end of the powerplay brought little respite either, as Nehal Wadhera chopped a Dayal delivery back onto his stumps.

With the score reading a sorry 50/5, the fans in Mullanpur had no option but to cover their stunned eyes and mouths with their hands, while Twitterati went bonkers.
