Relentless rain in Kolkata forced match officials to call off the game.

The encounter between KKR and PBKS was abandoned due to rain in Kolkata. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Punjab openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh put a 120-run stand, helping their side post 201/4 while rain interrupted KKR’s chase, leading to the match being called off.

‌Chasing a playoff spot after losing their previous game, Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat first. Openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh got off to a cracking start, racing to 56/0 by the end of the powerplay. Although the spin duo of Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine tightened the scoring, Arya stayed aggressive and hammered the pacers. The left-hander raced to a brilliant half-century off just 27 balls, pushing the total to 90 for no loss at the halfway mark. As the openers looked set for a big partnership, Andre Russell broke the stand by dismissing Arya in the 12th over. Soon after, Prabhsimran fell to Vaibhav Arora, departing after a superb 83 off 49 deliveries. Glenn Maxwell’s poor season continued as he managed only seven runs, leaving Punjab at 174/3 after 17 overs. The KKR pacers showed great resilience at the death as Iyer and Josh Inglis struggled to find boundaries, eventually guiding Punjab to 201/4 at the end of their innings.

In reply, KKR openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine made a cautious start, reaching 7/0 after the first over. However, play was soon interrupted as heavy rain swept across Kolkata, forcing the groundsmen to rush in with the covers. After more than an hour’s delay with no break in the rain, the match officials called off the game, resulting in both teams taking one point each.
