Santos president Marcelo Teixeira confirmed Neymar will remain sidelined until November due to a thigh injury sustained in mid-September. The medical team set a six-week recovery timeline. Since rejoining Santos, Neymar has played only 21 games with six goals. His injuries have also kept him out of Brazil’s national team since October 2023.
Going to the pitch is still some time away for Brazilian star Neymar, as Santos president Marcelo Teixeira has confirmed that the forward will not return before November. Neymar sustained a thigh injury during mid-September training, and the club's medical staff estimate a rehabilitation period of around six weeks. Since rejoining Santos earlier this year after a short spell in the Saudi league, Neymar has struggled with recurring injuries, which have limited his appearances.
He has played just 21 matches and scored six goals for the club so far in 2025. These fitness issues have also kept him out of the Brazilian national team since October 2023, following an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee in a game against Uruguay. Santos are aiming to secure their place in Brazil’s top division, and Neymar is expected to feature in the final stages of the league, which concludes on December 6 and 7.
Currently, the team sits at 27 points, five points clear of the relegation zone, following a 2-2 draw with Bragantino. Neymar’s return will be crucial for Santos as they push to avoid relegation and strengthen their attack in the closing fixtures of the season.
