NZ vs AUS | Twitter gets goosebumps as Stoinis and Head’s relay masterstroke has Jacobs running for life

Players often display admirable teamwork when they combine on the field to create magic, and Marcus Stoinis and Travis Head did exactly that during the first T20I against New Zealand. The Australian duo came up with an excellent effort to surprise Bevon Jacobs, who was caught short of the crease.

‌Australia had an excellent start after opting to bowl against New Zealand in the first T20I at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Wednesday. The pace duo of Josh Hazlewood and Ben Dwarshuis reduced the hosts to 6/3 inside two overs.

However, Tim Robinson and Daryl Mitchell repaired the Kiwi innings with a 92-run partnership for the fourth wicket, with the former completing his half-century in 31 balls. Robinson added another valuable partnership of 64 runs with Bevon Jacobs to sit at 158/4 as they aimed to maximise the scoring in the last two overs.

Robinson did well to negotiate an inswinging yorker, guiding the ball past the short fine leg fielder. Marcus Stoinis did admirably well as he sprinted from square leg to flick the ball on the dive to a running Travis Head, just ahead of th boundary rope.

Head, then, hurled an accurate throw back to wicketkeeper Alex Carey as Jacobs attempted a third run. The throw landed in Carey’s hands, and he had little difficulty in flashing the bails off with replays showing he was short of the crease.

Twitter was in awe of the excellent teamwork from the duo, which shocked the batter as he ran in vain for his life.
