Fielding is one of the skills that can cause a big difference in a game of cricket. Vishmi Gunratne taught her teammates a lesson after finally ending Amanjot Kaur’s innings with a stunner at deep mid-wicket in the opening game of the Women’s ODI World Cup on Tuesday in Guwahati.

gunaratne catch ends Amanjot Kaurs fortune

‌The opening game of the Women’s World Cup saw a lot of twists and turns as the Lankan Lionesses seemed to have had India Women on the back foot with the score reading 124/6 after 27 overs. However, Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur rescued the team with 100+ stand with Kaur getting to her first half-century in Women’s ODI World Cup, and Deepti also scored her runs at a brisk rate at the other end as well. Kaur scored 57 runs off 56 deliveries, which included five boundaries and six, but her innings was finally brought to an end due to some incredible fielding in the deep.

The talented all-rounder, who was playing some aggressive shots during her innings, was also living dangerously at the crease. The number eight batter had already given a few easy and half chances during her innings, which the Island nation failed to grab in the field. Unfortunately, her luck finally ran out in the 44th over as she attempted a slog on the third delivery only to be caught by Vishmi Gunaratne at deep mid-wicket. The Lankan batter put in a dive and took the catch cleanly to finally break the partnership and ensured that Kaur did not get any more lifelines.
